Here, you can unwind and watch the sun paint a masterpiece across the evening sky as it sets.

Crafted with an eye for style and comfort, Susanna is complete with a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy double bed and an ensuite shower room. Warm your evenings with a crackling wood-burning stove and make use of our complimentary handmade organic goats milk soaps and shampoo for a truly pampering experience.

We’ve also ensured your stay is as convenient as it is luxurious. Towels, bed linen, complimentary fair-trade teas and locally sourced coffee and a fully fitted kitchen with all the essentials are included to give you the perfect stay. Enjoy your favourite music on the Anker SoundCore Mini Bluetooth Speaker & Radio and stay warm with our rapid heat water heater and towel radiator.

Outside, your personal space extends with seating, table and a fire pit/BBQ, perfect for those clear nights under North Wales’ famous dark skies. The complimentary logs for your first night set the tone for your stargazing adventures.

Susanna’s prime location, nestled amidst the natural beauty of the Llŷn Peninsula and close to Snowdonia National Park, offers a treasure trove of photography opportunities. From the lush greenery of our surroundings to the diverse wildlife that thrives in and on our lake, photographers will find endless inspiration on the doorstep.

Experience the luxury, history, and natural wonders that make Susanna a jewel among shepherd huts in North Wales.

Taking Llywelyn the Great (c. 1173 – 11 April 1240), King of Gwynedd and ruler of Wales, as inspiration, we have named our huts in celebration of the women of this great dynasty.

SUSANNA, daughter of Llywelyn the Great and Joan (Siwan) Plantagenet, Lady of Wales, born c.1216.

Aged around 12 years old, Susanna was sent to England and placed in the custody of her uncle, King Henry III. Susanna was almost certainly being held in England as a hostage to ensure the good behaviour of her father, Llywelyn the Great, who had been pursuing to expand his kingdom.

In 1228, Nicholas de Verdun appeared to be in Henry III’s favor, and this favor manifested itself when the king’s …..‘dear and faithful Nicholas de Verdun and his wife Clementia [le Boteler] were granted custody of ‘Susanna’ our niece, the daughter of Llywelyn, Prince of North Wales and Joanna his wife, to be brought up safe and secure without all injury.’

Clementia (mother of Joan and mistress of King John) was almost certainly Susanna’s maternal grandmother.

Susanna married Malcolm MacDuff, Earl of Fife in 1230 and had two children:

  • Sir Colbran macDuff, Earl of Fife, born 1245, died 1270
  • MacDuff macDuff born 1247.

Susanna died c. 1259 in Dumfermline, Fife, Scotland.

Who was LLYWELYN THE GREAT?

Our stay was perfect, even with rainy weather, knowing that we had a beautiful home to return to made it all worthwhile. Mark and Jonathan were the perfect hosts, kind, friendly and professional. The huts are cleverly designed, immaculately clean, very comfortable and warm. The attention to detail was unsurpassable, the little touches, for example, the locally sourced soap, made it extra special. We will certainly be paying more visits.

Had an amazing stay here over the New Year. The site is in such a lovely area of Wales with lots to do around it. It's the perfect balance between being in the middle of nowhere and surrounded with things to do. The hut we stayed in was gorgeous and so clean. The service we received was also incredible, with Mark and Jonathan being wonderful hosts. We will definitely be booking again!

From start to finish we cant recommend this place enough! The place itself was scenic, beautiful and every small detail in the hut was beautiful and well thought of. It was our dogs first holiday and he loved every second. Anytime we need anything Mark was available straight away and also gave us several recommendations of places to visit. Very accommodating and sociable hosts! We even had a gift bag upon leaving, which is something I have never experienced from previous glamping visits. We cant wait to return in the future.

Incredibly peaceful and don't be surprised to find yourself distracted by watching the ducks and moorhens. The hosts have thought of everything. There were lots of luxurious touches, including an offer to light the wood burner before we arrived. We felt very well looked after as nothing was too much trouble. Glad we already had our first evening meal/drink with us, once we checked in we didn't want to leave!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here. The huts are done to such a high standard and the views are stunning. We received a very warm welcome from Mark & Jonathan and highly recommend Brook Cottage Shepherd Huts to anyone wanting to spoil themselves with a relaxing luxury weekend away. So many places to visit too.
